Presentation at the International Conference on Advances in Glass and Glass-ceramics

Kolkata (India), August 25, 13:10 UTC+5:30 IST (9:40 UTC+2, CEST) at the International Conference on Advances in Glass and Glass-ceramics, Daniele Paganelli will remotely present “Optical thermal analysis and computational tools for the characterization of ceramics and glass”.

Expert Lab Service proudly takes part as Silver Sponsor with our local representative Elico Marketing Pvt LTD.

The optical dilatometry, fleximetry and microscopy techniques will be reviewed in their application to glass and ceramics. A range of algorithms for the advanced characterization of materials will be presented.

Bio-glasses can require a precise thermal treatment in order to obtain the maximum density avoiding crystallization. Novel morphometric parameters assist in the correct characterization of sintering, softening, sphere, half-sphere and melting of bioglass powders.

Additive manufacturing techniques are being successfully applied to obtain final ceramic, refractory or glassy objects, and the optical dilatometer is a valuable tool for studying and optimizing the debinding of the plastic composite and subsequent firing of the green object.

When dealing with composite materials, like glazed ceramic tiles or enamelled metal parts, residual stresses will accumulate between each layer. Internal tension states can be estimated by combining the optical dilatometer and the optical fleximeter results with an accurate physical model.
